Assistant Brewer Application

Greenwood Brewing is a fast-growing microbrewery and looking for a long term contributor in a competitive and growing space. Individuals should be hardworking, detail oriented, problem solving by nature, and innately passionate about brewing beer and craft beer. We are seeking an individual that is ready to participate in a growing business and who will help contribute to our long-term success. 

Greenwood is located in the Roosevelt Row district of Downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The  hours for the position are primarily Monday – Friday but may require weekends for events and/or other brewing responsibilities.  This position will report directly to the Head Brewer, and will be an integral member of the Greenwood Team. Previous brewery/brewing experience is required.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

Wort production
Raw ingredients handling
Yeast pitching and handling
CIP/SIP of all brewery equipment
Analysis and measurement of gravity, pH, vCO2, temperature Beer transfers and clarification
Carbonation
Kegging
Operation of keg washer
Draft line cleaning and maintenance 

The ideal candidate: 

Is hard working and passionate about craft beer
Must be able to lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs
Ready to work early mornings and can handle the physical demands of brewery labor: standing, squatting, walking, carrying, lifting, seeing and listening
Can work safely with hazardous chemicals
Can work in a wet, hot environment
Highly attentive to detail and is able to effectively multi-task
Is willing to learn and continually strives to increase brewing knowledge
Strong mechanical and problem-solving aptitude is a bonus
The ability to work unsupervised and manage your own time and the time of others effectively with excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Additional Details: 

• This position is hourly and early-morning based on a 40 hour work week. This position may also require overtime on demand. Employee will be required to track hours and schedule. Schedules will vary throughout the month and year and will be determined by President and Head Brewer. 
• Medical care will be available through the Arizona Brewer’s Guild 

The Assistant Brewer will be responsible for any tasks related to the production of beer and will report directly to the Head Brewer of Greenwood Brewing. Their main tasks will be to maintain our beer program, perform regular brewing routine, receive and manage raw ingredient inventory, maintain the safety and customer experience in the brewery, and manage and maintain the brewery.
